Kelis Headed to Trial in Miami

Back in March of this year, R&B star Kelis, famous both for her songs, "I Hate You So Much Right Now" and "Milkshake" plus obviously for being married to Queensbridge rapper Nas, got arrested in South Beach for interrupting an undercover prostitution sting. If you want specifics on that event, go here for more info, but the gist is, she got arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Well, instead of pleading out, it seems Kelis is stubborn enough that she wants to take this matter to trial. Not sure why, but prosecutors probably don't want to deal with this and may not be so lenient on her if she loses. Then again, she's got every right to defend herself in a court of law and it looks like that's exactly what she plans to do. I'd hate to see Mrs. Nasir Jones in the slammer like so many other talented female artists these days, so let's hope she can avoid the jail time on this one. -- Jonathan Cunningham
