Coastal Wine & Spirits and Stache Partner for an Evening of Wine and Jazz

Stache's Facebook page

This summer has not been short on great date and dining deals. It really has been a great couple of months for trying new things in Broward and Palm Beach without breaking the bank. Drinking wine and following the commands of Bacchus are a great way to enjoy life, and when paired with food and music, life and the bacchanalia improve tenfold.

That has been a tautology since time immemorial.

Why fight facts proven by the passage of time? we ask. You'd be shooting yourself in the foot. The fine folks at Stache have paired with Coastal Wine & Spirits and are launching a new wine and jazz series that has all the elements of fun you'd expect in such a pairing. And that they are charging only a miserable $40 per person is cause enough to not ignore this deal.

Support Palm Beach Zoo at Off the Hookah Fundraiser July 3

Categories: Pairings

The Off the Hookah family of restaurants has always stood out a little bit among their peers for being quick and agreeable when it comes to fundraising and partnering with locals for good causes. This week, the Clematis location will be celebrating its fourth year of operation as well as hosting a fundraiser for the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society as an extension of their programmed Fourth of July celebration. Talk about multi-tasking.

"We are grateful to 'Off the Hookah' for presenting us with this fundraising opportunity. This particular restaurant chain is very motivated to support non-profits in their operating markets and we're proud to partner with them to showcase what we have to offer as a Zoo," remarked Ron Brooks, the zoo's Events Manager "and to help celebrate the restaurant's fourth anniversary" for emphasis on the symbiotic nature of this event.

With $20 tickets and all proceeds going to the zoo, this is a fun event the whole family can enjoy.

These guys make a cute pair.
Youse guys are really funny, you know that?

When we asked you to name your favorite pairing -- be it human couple, fictional characters, or...whatever...we weren't sure what we were going to get. After all, our examples were kind of lame. (Tarzan and Cheetah?)

But leave it to the smartest people on our planet to come up with some really good pairings. So good, in fact, that we wanted to share our top five favorites, counting down to the winning answer. The winner, of course, gets a pair of VIP tickets to New Times Pairings at the Broward Country Convention Center on Thursday, September 26 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Wine 101: How to Taste Wine With Andrew Lampasone of Wine Watch

You've heard it before: Wine is like a metaphor for life. As cheesy and pompous as it sounds, it's actually kind of true.

Take the same exact grape, grow it in different terroir -- that's wine-speak for growing place -- with different growing methods, fermentation techniques, or bottling procedures and you're going to end up with a completely different wine.

While the average wine drinker might not be able to notice the difference, one definitely exists. In preparation for our upcoming Pairings event on September 26, we figured you'd like to learn how to distinguish among the finer points of wine.

To help teach you how to taste wine properly and pick up on the individual distinctions, we spoke to Andrew Lampasone of Wine Watch about the basics of tastings.
