Old School Beerfest Tonight in Delray Beach, Local Brewers Featured

American Craft Beer Week in South Florida is not over until the fat lady sings, or at least until the beer taps run dry at the Old School Beefest in Delray Beach.

The pouring starts at 6 p.m. and goes until 10 in the Outdoor Pavilion at the Delray Beach Center for the Arts. If you haven't already gotten your tickets, general admission can be purchased at the gate for $40.

New Times Beerfest 2013: Winning Beers, Good Times (Pictures)

On Saturday evening, hundreds of beer lovers in South Florida came together in Esplanade Park to sample the finest beers, enjoy great live music and have a great time at New Times' Beerfest. Even the weather cooperated. Mother Nature is clearly a beer lover, because the evening was cool and clear -- perfect for hanging out and having a second glass of your favorite brew.

Speaking of brew, each partygoer received a pencil and scorecard in their beer tasting glass so they could take notes on which beers were best. We too got in on the action, with some New Times writers judging the beers in several different categories.

Hopefully you took Sunday to recover from the intense craft beer-drinking that took place at Beerfest Saturday night at Esplanade Park. Then again, hopefully you just kept the party going for the rest of the weekend.

New Times Beerfest 2013 Survival Guide

Anyone who says the pilsner is not the classiest of all beer glass styles is a dirty liar.
The "Original" New Times Beerfest returns to downtown Fort Lauderdale for its 16th incarnation this Saturday, from 6 to 11 p.m. So, as ol' Beerfest pros, we are here to offer you a little advice.

First and foremost, hopefully you have already purchased your tickets. If not, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Purchase them online immediately -- you only have until 2 p.m. Saturday to get $10 off your tickets.

At the gate general admission is is $40 and VIP is $85 -- still totally worth it, but why not save the ten bucks?

There's even still a chance to win a pair by commenting on this post with your favorite beer.

The 16th annual New Times Beerfest is coming!

The event, which features more than 100 brews and live music, happens on Saturday, April 6, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Esplanade Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale. 

Sample beers from some of the nation's best breweries, like Cigar City, Magic Hat, Brooklyn Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing, and Capital Brewery, as well as limited-edition craft beer at our Homebrewers Alley -- new for 2013.

The 16th-annual New Times "Original" Beerfest coming to Esplanade Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale on April 6 is still a little ways off. If you're counting down the days with thirsty impatience, check out the "Warm Up" event at Crown Wine & Spirits from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.  

After all, you can't just go jumping into a beer-marathon like Beerfest without a little practice.

Since ancient days in Egypt, people have been brewing their own beers and ales. That means that beer has a much longer history than most anything else humans drink.

After centuries of drinking beers and ales made by monks, pubs, and fancy-pants breweries, people are finally turning back to home brewing. Hey - even the President of the United States has his own beer.

Let's face it. There's nothing more satisfying than drinking beer you made with your own two hands. That's probably why home brewing is so popular in south Florida lately. In fact, just this week, Riverside Market had a home brew throwdown, See? That proves our point!

New Times is joining the home brew revolution with the inclusion of Homebrew Alley at our annual Beerfest, Saturday, April 6 from 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. at Esplanade Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
