South Florida Food and Drink Events This Week: Craft Beer, Science of Chocolate, and More

Categories: Things To Do

The Sweet Soiree
Everyone knows chocolate tastes good, but few actually understand the science behind it. On Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., the Museum of Discovery and Science is hosting a Science of Chocolate event with Friends of MODS and Club 2-1-1. The event features interactive chocolate inspired science demos, champagne, specialty cocktails, coffee, and plenty of Hoffman's chocolate. The cost to attend is $30 for members, $40 for non-members.

Scrumptious Meal
Time to prepare your special china and serving ware; here's your chance to learn to make a "scrumptious meal." On Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., Chef Jean-Pierre's Cooking School is hosting a cooking course that will go over the basics of impressing guests with a delicious dinner. The course includes baked macaroni and cheese, beef tenderloin wrapped with bacon, and lemon and orange crepe. The cost to attend is $68 per person.

Black Rose Trivia Night
Build up those brain cells while drinking beer. On Wednesday night, Havana Hideout is hosting a night of trivia in celebration of its Back to Boston Tap Takeover for the week. All week long, the bar is featuring eight special brews from Sam Adams. The games begin at 7 p.m. The winner gets a $50 bar tab.

Wine Down Wednesday
You can't go to a French restaurant without ordering wine -- it's considered sacrilege. Starting this week, every Wednesday night guests at Pistache French Bistro are entitled to half-off any wine on the list with purchase of a dinner entree. Reserves and champagnes are 20 percent off.

Beer & Breakfast for Dinner
Most of us don't drink beer with breakfast (unless it's something like a maple bacon coffee porter or oatmeal breakfast stout). And we tend to eat breakfast to actually break the fast of sleeping. Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs is mixing all of those notions up with its beer and breakfast for dinner event on Wednesday. Dan Von Husen of Brown Distributing tis hosting a tasting of Founders Brewing Company Breakfast Stout while Chef Phillip cooks samples of Chicken & Waffles. It starts at 7 p.m. Space is limited; sign-up at customer service.

Burgers & Craft Beer Tasting
In celebration of American craft beer week and national burger month, Whole Foods Market in Pembroke Pines is offering made-to-order burgers paired with craft brews. Taking place on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., the tasting is being held during the Farmer's Market. Vegans are welcome to join.

Chef Oliver's Thai Cooking Class
Thai food is bold an flavorful. But it's even better when prepared by a classically trained chef. On Thursday at 5 p.m., chef Oliver Saucy of Cafe Maxx is teaching a class in Thai cuisine. The cost to attend is $65 per person.
