Ronald McDonald..did you get Keratin?
It had to happen.

In these days of fashion obsessed celebrities, you just knew it was a matter of time before the McDonald's clown mascot got a makeover. It's about time for McDonald, who became the fast food's "spokesclown" back in 1963.

Gone is the frizzy red hair and yellow convict-like jumpsuit. Instead, McDonald has a sleek new 'do (we suspect chemical straightening) and a snazzy new costume designed by theatrical designer Ann Hould-Ward, who won a Tony award for her costume design work on "Beauty and the Beast".

New duds include a yellow vest with burger-print lining, a red blazer befitting a circus ringleader, and golden highwaters. Thankfully, Ronald's big clown shoes are still there (you know what they say about a clown's show size, after all? The bigger the shoe, the more people can fit in his tiny clown-car...or something like that).

The makeover is part of a new social media campaign that the clown himself will star in, so if you want to converse with Ronald about fashion, you can reach him at hashtag #RonaldMcDonald.

Apparently, the world's most recognized clown likes the new image. He's quoted as saying, "Selfies...here I come!"

Here's a video that shows Ronald getting prepped for his Vogue-like cover shoot:
