Five Best Food and Drink Events This Weekend: Sado, Beer, and Heavy Drinking

Categories: Things To Do

4. Demonstrations of Sado: The Way of Tea

Those looking for a cultural escape this weekend, have the change to get in on a real Japanese tea ceremony. This Saturday Morikami Museum and Gardens is hosting its monthly tradition of Japanese sado. The spirit of sado -- harmony (wa), reverence (kei), purity (sei), tranquility (jaku) -- along with a sip of green tea and a sweet is supposed to help you bring a calm perspective into your busy life (something we could all use these days). It takes place at Noon, 1, 2, and 3 p.m. It's $5 with paid admission to the museum. Visit

3. Spring/Easter Yappy Hour

Poor Fido is left all by his lonesome while you're out paying the bills during the workweek. Leaving him at home while you drink on the weekends is kind of a jerk move. Bring him with you to Funky Buddha Brewery's Spring/Easter Yappy Hour this Saturday. Starting at 3 p.m., the spot is hosting NoMore HomelessPets Ft Lauderdale for a doggie playdate/fundraiser/drinking occasion. Anyone who makes a $5 donation to the rescue gets $1 off food truck purchases as well as an extended $1 happy hour until 7 p.m. Visit

2. 4/20 Lagunitas Waldo's Special Ale Tapping

For those looking to celebrate 4/20 in a legal way, The Riverside Market is hosting a special holiday tapping of pot-inspired Lagunitas Waldo's Special Ale. It takes place at 4:20 p.m. Each pint is five bucks. Other Lagunitas brews will be on tap.
