Obviously, if you're checking out Clean Plate Charlie, you're into two things: good food and a good read. So are the people at PDQ, the fast casual restaurants that stand for "people dedicated to quality".

The Tampa-based chain that specializes in fresh hand-battered chicken tenders, made-to-order sandwiches, and fresh salads, is hosting a book drive in honor of National Children's Book Day.

Celebrated on April 2 (Hans Christian Andersen's birthday), book day's goal is to increase the opportunities to put books into the hands of young people to promote an early love of stories and the written word. In a world filled with video games and multi-media assaults, it's more important than ever to share the joy of a good book with kids.

PDQ, in partnership with local Boys and Girls Clubs, is hosting the drive in an effort to collect books to share with kids in our community. From April 2-6, donate a new or gently used book at any PDQ and receive a coupon good for a free combo meal to use on your next visit.

All books collected will be donated to the local Boys and Girls Club (so Harry Potter good....50 Shades bad).

In addition, each PDQ location will also host storytelling sessions. Check eatPDQ.com for storytelling times and to find a location near you.
