Sammie and a soup shot. Life is good.
Lunch time around Las Olas is going to get mighty cheesy with the impending opening of a new Daily Melt location.

The grilled cheese-centric brainchild of chef Allen Susser is scheduled to open some time within the month and will also take on a more sophisticated gourmet cafe look and feel.

This downtown location of The Daily Melt will feature a lounge area with free WiFi and chef Allen's daily blackboard specials.

Although bread and cheese is the base upon which all happiness starts, the Daily Melt does offer more than grilled cheese sammies, featuring a selection of soups (grilled cheese's best friend at $1.45 - $4.95); salads ($7.95); a full breakfast menu featuring freshly ground coffee and pastries; made-to-order milkshakes in flavors like peanut butter-banana and fresh mango (once a member of the mango gang, always a member); and craft beer and wine.

Totally sealing the deal for us is the gourmet pickle bar featuring the chef's own Urban Pickles. There you can choose from house-cured varieties like sea salt dill; mojo; lemon ginger; hot & sassy; Kickin' Asian, and bread & butter.

Sandwiches range from $3.95 - $7.95 and include classics like bacon melts roasted turkey melts to signature sammies like the BBQ pulled pork.

Daily Melt downtown Fort Lauderdale will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
