Seminole Hard Rock, Stephens Distributing, Others Hiring Thousands at Massive Job Fair
If you're looking for a job or a career change, head over to the Sheraton Plantation hotel on September 11 for the "Putting America Back to Work" event.
Courtesy Seminole Hard Rock Charles Jackson is a chef at Hard Rock.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., representatives from over 35 different companies in south Florida will be on hand to accept resumes and applications -- with many of them conducting immediate on-site interviews.
Steve Lapa, general manager of 850 WFTL Radio, which is hosting the event, says that the companies involved in this massive recruiting session are looking to fill over 5,000 jobs. "Royal Caribbean International is sending eight recruiters to the job fair. If you're in a position where you need a job or you're looking for a change, this is a great place to go."
Although not all of the companies involved are in the restaurant and hospitality industries, there are many service positions available by some heavy hitters like Stephens Distributing, Panera Bread, IHOP, Royal Caribbean, and Seminole Hard Rock.
Michelle Coleman, Director of Talent and Internal Marketing for the Seminole Gaming Administration told Clean Plate Charlie her organization is looking to hire over 100 new workers for three local facilities. Job titles include assistant beverage manager; bartender; cocktail server; cook; executive chef; and steward.
Coleman said that her team is looking for candidates who possess the five "F's" -- friendly, fast, fun, focused, and fresh (as in keeping their job fresh) and the the positions are for people in every level of their careers. "We have entry-level openings for servers, right up to senior positions at our Council Oak restaurant."
In addition to local positions, Coleman said that her team can access openings at facilities throughout the country, so if you're looking to relocate to, say, Tampa, there may be a job waiting for you there.
In addition to finding your next career move, you could meet talk show host Geraldo Rivera, who will be broadcasting live from the event from 9 a.m. to noon. Rivera, by the way, promises to wear a shirt to the event.
To take full advantage of the job fair, which is free and open to the public, bring several copies of your resume and dress in interview attire. Special consideration will be given to military veterans. For more information, visit bigtalk850.com or call 954-315-1504.
