Five Best Food and Drink Events in South Florida This Weekend: Drinking Trolleys, Animal Benefits, and More

Categories: Things To Do

4. Toasts, Tastes, and Trolleys

Most South Floridians have had a dangerous - and highly intoxicated experience - on the notorious bus loop. That's great when you're 21 and all, but if you've passed that mark there's probably a good chance you - and your insides - just can't hang anymore. Don't worry: less painful options abound. On Friday from 6 to 11 p.m, the 3rd Annual Toasts, Tastes, and Trolleys event will be making its way around downtown Boca Raton, starting at the Boca Raton Resort & Club with some civilized champagne and hors d'oeuvres before making its way around town for samples of light bite and, more importantly, cocktails. The evening will conclude with dessert and dancing at the Boca Raton Resort. The cost to attend is a $125 donation to the Boca Raton Historical Society and Museum. Tropical causal attire is recommended.
The Boca Raton Resort & Club is located at 501 E. Camino Real in Boca Raton. Call 561-395-6766 extension 101, or visit

3. DIG Deep for Dogs

Most people want to get out of the house on a Saturday night. Most people like animals. Why not combine your love of drinking out on the town with your love of animals this weekend? DIG Restaurant in Delray Beach is hosting a fundraiser for local rescue 100 Plus Abandoned Dogs of the Everglades this Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. For $20 per person get in on a free buffet (drinks are for purchase), raffle, silent auction, live entertainment, dog adoptions, and some warm and fuzzy feelings.

2. Taste of Parrotdise

Jimmy Buffet is the personification of old Florida; his music and serious alcohol consumption bring back memories - real or imagined - of days sitting around drinking margaritas with friends while sitting out on the sand overlooking the water with goofy tropical-inspired tunes playing away in the background. On Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m., the Sixth Annual Taste of Parrot-dise is bringing the old beach flavor to the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame. Local restaurants, beverage brands and liquor companies, a cake decorating contest, with a Buffet theme (natch), live music, a raffle, silent auction, vendors, and more. Held by the Barefoot Children of Fort Lauderdale Parrot Head Club as well as Two Men and a Truck of Fort Lauderdale, the event benefits the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life of Davie/ Cooper City. General Admission is $45 per person. A special VIP package is available for $80, which includes raffle and auction tickets, three drinks from the bar, early admission and more.

1. Stache Soft Opening Glam-A-Thon Benefit

Sometimes you need an excuse to head out, again, for another big cocktail consuming night; a charitable event is always nice. On Friday 7 p.m., Stache will be hosting its soft opening party as a benefit for Glam-A-Thon, which will help provide uninsured women with life-saving mammograms and other testing for early breast cancer detection and diagnosis.
