Top Ten Mexican Restaurants in Broward and Palm Beach Counties

Nicole Danna
If you were at Rocco's Tacos right now, you could be drinking this margarita.

Let's face it: with South Florida's heavy colorful Latin population, finding good latin cuisine isn't exactly challenging. But finding a good Mexican restaurant? Now, that's another story.

While lots of restaurants in the area produce a decent variation of authentic Mexican fare, true Tex-Mex or a good take on latin fusion style dishes, only a few make our list for the best in Broward and Palm Beach County, which takes into account food, atmosphere, drinks and music for the whole enchilada. Here's our list - in no particular order - of the Top Ten Mexican Restaurants in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

10. Aleyda's
Located just off I-95 off Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach, Aleyda's has been serving Tex-Mex cuisine for more than 30 years, what continues to be some of the best cuisine and service in the city when it comes to Mexican fare. Although there isn't a bar to get your drink on, the daily specials for lunch and happy hour make this a great day-spot to do a little pre-celebrating with our pick of lobster fajitas -- and an awesome selection of Mexican beers, housemade sangrias and frozen and on-the-rocks margaritas.

Casa Maya Grill did not make the list? Their ceviche, Seafood Chile Relleno, and Sangria place them in my top two alongside El Jefe Luchador for its Torta , Nachos, and ... Sangria.

excellent that JALISCO didn't make the list = i don't want the place more crowded than it gets now = so that was a close call because it is PURE mexican (good food cheap! a very pleasant staff !)

the three that did that i know of and do GO to that did make the list 1)ROCCOs, 2)CARLOs e PEPE and 3)elTAMARINDO ...............all deserve mention YES but each has a significant draw-back they simply cannot do anything about themselves (1)very LASOLAS, (2)the smell from the waste water-treatment plant on 17th street, (3)its NOT mexican)

so if you don't mind (1)LAS OLAS prices then GO, if you don't mind (2)that awful stomach curdling vomit gag inducing odor then GO, and if you (3)like the best of hispanic foods including daily soup specials from ANYWHERE IN south america then GO

Don't forget Rosalita's in Lantana, a favorite in central Palm Beach County.
