Beer is near!

The 16th-annual New Times "Original" Beerfest is coming to Fort Lauderdale's Esplanade Park on Saturday, April 6, from 6 to 11 p.m., and the one question we have for you is:

Do you have your tickets?

Come on, dude, these puppies are selling fast, and you absolutely do not want to be the one guy staying home and watching a Two and a Half Men marathon while your friends are out there sampling more than 100 brews and listening to live music -- do you?

Yeah -- we thought not.

General-admission tickets cost only $30 in advance, and VIP tickets cost $75 for you high rollers who love special VIP tents, additional beer samplings, and preferred stage views for the concert. To purchase tickets, vist newtimesbeerfest.com.

Don't forget our all-new home-brew alley, where home brewers will allow their brew-babies to be judged by a panel of experts. Best of all? You get to try them!

If you are a home brewer and you want to participate in this year's Beerfest, shoot an email over to anthony.gordon@miaminewtimes.com to get more information on how you can be a part of this historic moment in beer history.

Want to win tickets? Clean Plate Charlie's got another pair of general-admission tickets to give away. Just comment on this blog and tell us your absolute favorite beer. Is it a Belgium made from monks? A local Florida craft? Or are you a PBR person? We want to know. We'll pick a winner on Friday. Be sure to register with a valid email address so we can contact you if you win the tickets.

See you at Beerfest!

Monk in the Trunk is my favorite, a locally brewed (Jupiter, FL) belgium style amber made from organic hops with a nice slightly sweet and malty flavor. My mouth is watering from describing it! I already have two general admission tickets so can mine be upgraded to VIP if I win?

I love Stella Artois. I also drink Monk in the Trunk and #9   :)

Mostly imports. Baltika #9, it's Russian and impossible to find in Miami. #3 is way too bitter and #1 doesn't do it for me. #9 hits the spot.   The only place I've found it on is at that gas station off of US1 and Coral Way. Other than that, it's the tiny Russian market in Hollywood.

Monk in the Trunk or Hoegaarden, and not just because of the names.

My favorite craft beer is Spotted Cow and my favorite imported beer is Leffe Blonde.  But really, I enjoy all beers.  I love to visit breweries and smell the hops and taste everything they have on tap.  I make special trips to the store to sample and purchase as many new beers as possible.  I would really love to go to BeerFest

My favorite beer changes week to week, but for now I'm going to have to say Due South Caramel Cream Ale. So smooth & delicious.

It depends on the style of beer and time of day. In the morning, I enjoy a Belgian white beer. My favorite is Hitachino Nest White Ale (Belgian white brewed in Japan).
