Yes, indeed, kiddos -- it's that magical time of year when New Times breaks out all the stops and taps all the kegs to share the best in beer with you, the reader. Awesome craft beer, cool tunes, and good food not your thing? Fine, then. 5. 4th-annual Toes in the Sand Shrimp Boil on the Beach
How much surf, sand, and shrimp can one person soak up on a Saturday night? Find out at this weekend's 4th-annual "Toes in the Sand" Shrimp Boil on the Beach to benefit the Financial Assistance Program for families who have a child receiving extended hospital care for heart surgery. The boil is 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Lauderdale Surf Club (2 Palm Ave. in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea). A VIP reception is 5 to 6 p.m. The party will feature all-you-can-eat boiled shrimp and sides, beer, wine, and live entertainment. The dress code is "beach chic." Tickets are $50 per person; VIP tickets ($100) are sold only in advance. Call 954-318-2020.
4. 10th-anniversary Flavors Wellington Food & Wine Festival
Saddle up and bust out the riding crop: Wellington is hosting its annual Flavors food festival with food, wine, live music, and of course, equestrian exhibitions. The event is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington. Tickets are $30 at the door.
