Plenty of mint juleps for Derby Day.
The 139th running of the Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, May 4. Although the race could be the shortest sporting event you'll ever watch, it's been coined "the most exciting two minutes in sports" for good reason.

Just try to stay aloof when an entire roomful of people wearing giant hats are screaming out names like "Goldencents," "Palace Malice," and "Fear the Kitten" (by the way -- those are actual names of some of the thoroughbreds on the Derby leaderboard).

Post time for Saturday's race is 6:24 p.m., but Tap 42's party starts at 2 p.m., giving you plenty of time to show off your hat and grab a mint julep.

The second-annual derby celebration for the restaurant/brew pub is called "Get Down and Derby" and features $5 mint juleps made with Maker's 46 and plenty of contests and prizes.

Dress to impress and win a prize.
Part of the celebration at Churchill Downs, the home of the Derby, is dressing up in appropriate attire, so break out your finest head gear, frilliest dress, and that seersucker suit your uncle left you in his will and prepare to be rewarded with prizes for the most derbyesque outfit. Tap 42's craft beer director, Lauren Bowen, didn't tell us what this year's prize was, but she did say it was bigger and better than last's years (which was an iPad2)!

Feeling lucky? Pick the winning horse and you'll be eligible for more fabulous prizes, including gift cards, T-shirts, koozies, and some "surprises."

Beats flying all the way to Louisville, doesn't it?
