If you love Moonfest, you're going to really love this year's War of the Worlds New Year's Eve party in West Palm Beach.

The creators of Moonfest are bringing back the 500 Block New Year's Eve party to Clematis St., which shuts down the west end of the street for an evening of live music and celebration.

According to O'Shea's Irish Pub owner Maurice Costigan, also the Moonfest founder and event organizer alongside South Florida restaurateur Rodney Mayo, this will be the duo's third New Year's Eve party -- an event that began several years ago, but didn't happen last year due to funding.

"In the past, we've used the money raised from Moonfest to put towards the [two previous] New Year's Eve part[ies], but because we did not charge for Moonfest [in 2011], there was no money to put on a New Year's Eve party last year," Costigan told Clean Plate Charlie.

Luckily, October's 2012 Moonfest was successful enough to fund one of the biggest, baddest New Year's Eve events yet, he said, and there's plenty to get the party started once again.

This year's theme: "War of the Worlds," where you can ring in 2013 with a giant spaceship. Rather than dropping a sparkling globe for the final countdown, Costigan said he and Mayo decided to go with the movie's theme, and found a company in China that made authentic-looking spaceship replicas.

While the site of a giant spaceship dropping at midnight alone is worth $10, like Moonfest there will be a $10 entry fee, which includes access to any of the restaurants and clubs within the 500-block of Clematis St. and a free champagne toast. A $75 fee gets you premium open bar and appetizers compliments of Longboards from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Clubs will remain open until 4 a.m.

For a limited time (this weekend) you can also purchase presale tickets from Respectables, Howleys, Longboards or O'Shea's at a discounted rate. General Admission is reduced to $5, and VIP $50. For regular sale priced tickets, go here.

Once inside you'll also be able to enjoy live music on two stages, one featuring eight live bands including the Jacuzzi Boys, New Coke, the Killbillies and the Resolvers, while another stage offers music from several DJs.
