Bring a Frozen Turkey, Get in Free @ Copacabana in Fort Lauderdale
|Salsa for a cause.|
From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 16, the price of admission is one frozen turkey. Inside the restaurant-nightclub will be offering free paella, half-priced drinks, a cash bar and door prizes. Salsa band The Flores de Bomba will also give a short performance.
The new Copacabana, the famed club's first location outside of New York City, opened in the former Laffing Matterz space at the corner of Andrews Avenue and Las Olas boulevard. The space had sat empty for nearly three years until construction began in January.
Owners Paul Curry, Jose Sanchez, Alex Sanchez and John Star reportedly sought a location in South Florida for nearly three years. They had reportedly been looking in Miami Beach but ultimately settled in Fort Lauderdale near Las Olas Boulevard. John Cestare has been put forth as the club's frontman.
At the moment "The Copa" is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5 p.m. It offers a limited yet affordable dinner menu that includes lamb and veal meatballs, shrimp tacos and churrasco. On Friday nights the club is looking to attract the corporate happy hour crowd, offering a free paella bar and salsa lessons. On Saturdays Sabor Latina, a 10-piece salsa bands, fills the room with Latin rhythm while a DJ converts the space into a nightclub near midnight.
