Starbucks Launches Coffee For Seven Bucks a Cup: Jimmy Kimmel Holds a Taste Test

Starbucks most expensive coffee yet . But can you tell?
Starbucks has long had a reputation of serving a good albeit expensive cup of coffee.

That business model has served the chain well, with each store seeing lines of people trading their hard-earned money for lattes, coffees, and teas.

Recently, though, Starbucks outdid itself by introducing its most expensive cup of Joe yet.

The Costa Rica Tarrazu Finca, made from rare Geisha beans, sells for $7 a cup and $40 a bag. The pricey java is available at 48 Starbucks stores and is so rare that only 450 bags have been roasted and each bag is individually numbered.

So is this ultra-premium coffee worth the additional money? Television host Jimmy Kimmel asked that burning question to a host of random strangers at a man-on-the-street taste test.

People were asked to try two cups of Starbucks coffee to determine which was the regular stuff and which was the high-octane exclusive coffee. Words like smoother, richer, and bolder were thrown around. One woman said the premium coffee tasted "beany" and "roasted".

There's one thing we know and these people didn't -- Kimmel and friends didn't even bother buying the expensive Geisha beans. Both cups were the same Starbucks regular.

What ensues is pretty funny. Watch here:
