Need to detoxify your skin after consuming pounds of candy?
It's become a parental tradition: taking pictures of kids in a pumpkin patch. Kind of like the fall version of the social media Christmas card. And yes, we agree, your kid looks great surrounded by a mountain of gourds. But let's be honest, it's kind of wasteful. The majority of those pumpkins used for photo ops are most likely going to rot away now that the holiday has passed. Unless, of course, you decide to raid one of those unmanned pumpkin patches. If you're starting to feel guilty about all of the waste, we have the leftover pumpkin solution for you: a pumpkin facial.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

Step One: "Procure" your pumpkins. Many of those huge patches are now unmanned. But beware of the ones with soggy bottoms.

Step Two: Remove and clean the seeds.

Step Three: Place the seeds in a shallow pan and sprinkle with salt.

Step Four: Toast the seeds in the oven at 350 degrees until they have reached the desired texture. Check them at 30 minute increments. This should take less than an hour.

Step Five: Cool the seeds. Place them in an airtight jar. And hide them from friends.

Raw Pumpkin Facial

Step One: Slice the skin off the now seedless pumpkin.

Step Two: Cube up the flesh--including the stringy stuff.

Step Three: Pulverize the cubes in a food processor or a blender.

Step Four: Add one tablespoon of sugar to the mixture for exfoliation.

Step Five: Continue blending until the mixture is smooth. The facial mixture can be kept covered in the fridge.
