Biergarten Boca Raton Kicks Off Second-Annual Oktoberfest on Friday (in Spite of "Cursed" Location)

The barmaids at Biergarten Boca Raton will be slinging mad amounts of beer for the bar's Oktoberfest.

Considering how many restaurants have failed (very quickly) in the spot now occupied by Biergarten Boca Raton, one could be forgiven for initially greeting the business with a hint of reservation. But a year after opening in Royal Palm Place, the German joint is ready to celebrate its second annual Oktoberfest in a rollicking ten-day festival of beer, brats, and bands. The party kicks off on Friday and continues through Sunday, October 14.

Dustin Dykstra, general manager for the restaurant, credits "hard work" for helping Biergarten to "break the curse" of the spacious venue which has seen more than its fair share of turnover in recent years. The restaurant that occupied the address before Biergarten lasted a mere two weeks before shuttering, Dykstra says. Now with a successful first year under its belt, the Bavarian-styled enterprise is breaking out all the stops for this year's Oktoberfest.

"We've been working on Oktoberfest since May; we're very well prepared," Dykstra said.

There will be live music every night, save for Mondays, when Biergarten will introduce its new "dollar brat Monday" special. Alpine Express -- a bonafide German band from Orlando -- will close out the final day of the festivities.

Happy hour is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday and there will be additional daily giveaways and other specials on offer. Other typical Oktoberfest activities, like litre-holding contests and dancing, are to be expected. And beer; lots and lots of beer.

"We're German," Dykstra said. "We don't need a reason to party; it's what we do."
