Free Coffee for National Coffee Day (It's Today, September 29)
chichacha via Flickr Creative Commons The best part of waking up is free stuff in your cup.
Coffee fanatics can spend many, highly-caffeinated hours debating the merits of French roast versus American, iced versus hot, or shade-grown organic fair trade versus Folgers, but one genre of coffee is universally adored: Free.
Today, Saturday, September 29, is National Coffee Day, and while some places -- like 7-Eleven -- celebrated on Friday, there are a few places that will mark the food holiday today by offering a free cup or discounted coffee to customers. Details after the jump.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
Everyone's favorite doughnut pushers will give out one free 12-ounce cup of house blend coffee, no purchase necessary. The offer is good in all participating locations. While you're there, you can try their new "county fair" sugar bomb line of doughnuts featuring cotton candy (covered in bright blue "cotton candy" sugar) and caramel apple.
The Golden Arches have been giving away free joe all week in honor of the might beans, and today is the last day to cash in on the offer. Get one free small Premium Roast McCafe, no purchase necessary. The promo is good at all participating restaurants on the East coast. Call your local store before you go to ensure they're in on the game.
Einstein Bros. Bagels and Dunkin' Donuts
These chains aren't handing out free coffee, but they are recognizing the day with special discounts. Einstein, for instance, has been offering a special daily drink at a 50 percent discount throughout the week. Dunkin' Donuts, meanwhile, is selling a pound of coffee for $5.99 at participating stores. That price is good today and Sunday only.
