Five South Florida Food-Related Events This Weekend: Lips Tribute Dinner and More
Courtesy photo Sunday dinner just got way more interesting.
From dining with divas to meeting the makers, there's more than one out-of-the-ordinary event on the food and drink schedule this weekend in South Florida. After the jump, find a roundup of things to do this weekend in the realm of drinking and dining in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
1. Divas and dinner
Still mourning the loss of Whitney and Donna? We feel ya. Don't weep into your margarita all by your lonesome, go out and dance with somebody. Lips is hosting a themed tribute dinner show Sunday night to honor dearly departed pop divas and raise money for Women in Distress of Broward County. Read Dearly Departed Divas Tribute for full details on the event, which includes a three-course meal and a glass of wine or a frozen cosmo with admission.
2. Food truck fun
The weather forecast for the weekend -- like it really matters -- calls for lots of sun and/or lots of rain. Depending on which way the wind blows, it could be a good time to hit up one of the special food truck events planned. For instance, from 4:30 to 8:30 tonight, 13 food trucks are expected to roll up at Braman Honda of Palm Beach (5200 Lake Worth Rd. in Greenacres) for an event promoting the release of the 2013 Honda Accord. Among the trucks attending are B.C. Tacos, Crazydilla, Out of Many, and Rolling Stove.
On Saturday, get a taste of new food truck Best French Fries during a grand opening spotlight from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Nippers Bar & Grill in Boca Raton. Further south, find Friar Tuck's food truck at the Undergrounds Coffeehaus from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday for a "Doctor Who" themed evening of cheeky British sci-fi and food truck fare. At 6 p.m., catch last week's episode of the cult hit, followed by a food and drink intermission. The new episode airs around 7 p.m.
