Chef Steven Zobel Announced as Executive Chef for New Fort Lauderdale Restaurant

Earlier this month, Clean Plate Charlie revealed that chef Steven Zobel was leaving East End Brasserie in Atlantic Resort & Spa (read the blog post about his departure here). This week, we've got details on the chef's new project in Fort Lauderdale.

Zobel will be the executive chef at D.B.A. restaurant, located in the shopping center at 2364 N. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. D.B.A. will open in October, but the timeline hasn't been nailed down.

The 1,850-square-foot space will strive for a New York City vibe, owing to the owners' and Zobel's NYC background: Zobel was born and raised in New York and worked in restaurants like Triomphe before moving to South Florida to head the kitchen at East End Brasserie.

Zobel's menu for D.B.A. will pull from his background in French cuisine as well as incorporate local and seasonal ingredients. Dishes will be offered by half or full portions, and diners will be encouraged to share plates.

The restaurant/wine bar will have seating for 60 guests and space for live entertainment. Restaurant owner Michael Lynch, formerly of Il Mercato Cafe and Wine Shop in Hallandale Beach, is putting an emphasis on the wine list, though craft beer also will be available on tap and in bottles.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week, offering lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. Dinner will be offered 5 to 11 p.m. daily. The restaurant also plans to offer local delivery and will add a late-night menu down the road.
