President Obama Brews Beer and Buys a Round at the Fair
|Obama brew: White House Honey Ale|
President Barack Obama, for instance, likes his beer so much that he's brewing and bottling his own private-label stash at the White House.
For more than a year, we've heard buzz about White House Honey Ale, but White House spokesman Jay Carney finally gave the official word on the brew after President Obama gave a bottle of the ale to a lucky coffee-shop patron in Iowa on a recent campaign stop.
"There is a home brew, if you will, at the White House," Carney said.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the beer is brewed at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. using honey from the White House garden and comes in both a dark and light variety.
So how does this presidential beer taste? "I think I've only tried the light, and it's quite refreshing," Carney said.
Further details about the ale weren't available. "I have exhausted my knowledge about this subject. Usually, when someone hands me a beer I don't ask how it was made; I just drink it," the White House spokesman acknowledged.
Our beercentric president proved his love for the brew by chugging some Budweiser at the Iowa State Fair this week. Seems the president turned down a smoothie and a cinnamon bun, opting for a pork chop on a stick and a cold brewski.
When fairgoers started chanting "Four more beers," the president took some bills out of his wallet to buy a round for a lucky ten people. How did the beer taste? "Cold and delicious," according to our country's leader.
