| Eat some ribs....help the library. |
The Delray Beach Public Library has been around for nearly 100 years and, though it's evolved with the times, lending out e-books and DVD's, providing computer classes, and offering classes, there's one thing that hasn't changed in a century -- the library continues to be the community's head and heart, providing a place where everyone can learn and be entertained.
Like so many other vital community hubs, the Delray Beach Public Library partly relies on generous donations and fundraisers to keep its doors open. This weekend, the library is holding a beach bash, complete with food, games, and plenty of fun.
Tomorrow, August 18, the library will celebrate its centennial with Beach, Barbeque, & Books, an old-fashioned outdoor cookout at the Delray Beach Club (2001 S. Ocean Boulevard, Delray Beach).
From 4 to 8 p.m., enjoy all-you-can-eat barbeque, beach and pool activities, music, and games. Special guest Olympic volleyball player Steve Grotowski will be participating in exhibition matches and providing adult and kid clinics to work off your ribs and burgers.
Bring your swimsuit, get sand between your toes, and chow on some food. What better way to wind down the summer?
Tickets are $50 for adults, $25 for kids 3-14, and free for kids 3 and under.
