This week's movings and shakings in the Broward and Palm Beach restaurant worlds involve a new addition to Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, plus chef Angelo Elia's seemingly never-ending pursuit of dominance of the South Florida dining scene. Chef Angelo Elia expands into Weston and wins Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for Casa D'Angelo
Chef Angelo Elia -- who was named New Times' Best Broward County Chef in 2012 -- will expand to a sixth restaurant location this fall. D'Angelo Pizza Wine Bar Tapas will open in October at 1107 Weston Road in the Country Isle Plaza. The 2,800-square-foot restaurant will have a similar price point and concept to his D'Angelo location in Fort Lauderdale.

Meanwhile, Elia's restaurant Casa D'Angelo in Fort Lauderdale was named to Wine Spectator's list of "The Best Wine Lists of 2012" featured in the August 31 issue. It earned the "Best of Award of Excellence" for its collection of more than 20,000 bottles. The Boca Raton outpost of Casa D'Angelo snagged an Award of Excellence.

Union in Delray Beach to share space with Candyfish Gourmet Sushi
Sometime in August, Union in Delray Beach will debut a partnership with Candyfish Gourmet Sushi, according to an announcement this week on the restaurant's Facebook page. Sushi chef Zhang (who reportedly trained under Nobu Matsuhisa of Nobu restaurant fame) will lead the line. It appears the two restaurants will co-exist in the same space on Atlantic Avenue.
