Stephane's in Boca Raton Opens This Sunday, July 15

All systems are go for Stephane's in Boca Raton which will open its doors to the public this Sunday, July 15. The luxe restaurant is housed in the space previously occupied by Copper Canyon Grill and it will focus on American and French cuisine. The new restaurant is taking reservations online for the opening week via Opentable.

The new Boca restaurant has a few heavy-hitters on its staff list. The kitchen is steered by executive chef John Belleme, formerly of Umi Fishbar + Grill and Zemi, among other places. Virginia Philip, master sommelier and owner of Virginia Philip Wine Shop & Academy, is in charge of the wine list. Bar manager/mixologist Melvin Negron will handle cocktail duty.

The menu is protein-rich with a raw bar, seafood, and a variety of meaty dishes like a double-cut pork chop ($24) and aged prime rib au jus ($29). During the week, they'll offer a $19.90 prix fixe lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays. Current hours for the restaurant are 11:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday.

 FYI WARNING to all, they have the 15% SERVICE CHARGE for ALL customers up to 4 people and 18% SERVICE CHARGE for 5 or more.  They even note that it is NOT A TIP and also request you TIP THE SERVER ON TOP OF SERVICE CHARGE.  This is clearly noted right there on the menu at their website:  "15% Service Charge will be added to your check for parties up to 4 guests, 18% for 5 or more. Please reward your server for exceptional service with additional TIP. Thank you. " The "Service Charge" since it does not go to the waitstaff, must be there to pad the salaries of the Mgrs, Somms, etc that they are too cheap to pay a decent wage.  Also wonder what kind of waitstaff turnover they will be having once every server gets stiffed at every table (We are in Boca, after all, not Miami) and no one returns after the first visit and getting that ridiculous "Service Charge" on the bill.  Bad business all around.
