South Florida Dining Events This Week: National Tequila Day and More

Tuesday is National Tequila Day, which means Wednesday morning is gonna suck.

The London 2012 Summer Olympics kick off on Saturday, and it'll be hard to not feel a bit like an undisciplined couch potato once you catch a glimpse of all those hard bodies in skimpy uniforms achieving amazing feats of strength, speed, and agility. Before those incredible physiques guilt you into resting up, eating light, and teetotaling, check out the Clean Plate Charlie list of dining activities this week in South Florida. Tonight

Spanish Summer Winetasting
The Blind Monk in West Palm Beach is hosting a summer winetasting with star varieties from Spain, like sangria, sparkling, and reds. The booze will be paired with regionally appropriate bites. The tasting is 7 p.m. and seating is limited. Call 561-833-3605 to book a spot. The price is $30 per person plus tax and tip.

Tuesday

Duffy's MVP Bus to the Marlins Game
The safe way to indulge in overpriced stadium booze: Duffy's has launched an MVP bus program that shuttles fans from two Duffy's locations in Broward/Palm Beach down to Miami for select Marlins' games. Read more about the event here.

National Tequila Day
You may pay for it on Wednesday morning, but Tuesday, July 24, is National Tequila Day. Celebrate accordingly at local Mexican restaurants like Rocco's Tacos and Tequila Bar in Fort Lauderdale, which will feature tequila-based specials throughout the evening.

Thursday

Bar Louie Opening in West Palm Beach
The restaurant opens on Thursday at 200 Clematis St. in West Palm Beach. This will be the "soft opening": The grand opening will be celebrated Monday, July 30, through Sunday, August 5.

Deliver the Dream Fundraiser at the Village at Gulfstream Park
Young professionals group Generation Dream will host a food and drink event starting at 6 p.m. at the Village at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach. Start out at Playwright Irish Pub for free apps and a free drink and happy-hour pricing until 8 p.m. Then, move on to Blu Sushi for an app and cocktail, plus dinner specials and gift raffles. Saturday

Palm Beach Craft Beer Festival
No Budweiser or schwag beer for them: When Palm Beach hosts a beer festival, you can be certain it's going to be the fancy-pants stuff. The inaugural fest is 4 to 9 p.m. in Meyer Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach. Read more about the event here.

Do Something Reel Film Festival at Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs
Factory-bred corn is a big business in the U.S., and it shapes nearly every part of our lives (including for many, our collectively expanding waistlines). Learn more about the crop that fuels our nation during a showing of the documentary King Corn in the café at Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs. The film starts at 4 p.m.

Rum tasting at Total Wine in Palm Beach Gardens
