Always wanted to impress Mom with a dinner at the Breakers but thought it was out of your price range? Have you been eyeing Café Boulud for a special-occasion date? If so, now is your time to pounce.

Summers in South Florida mean two things. One, it's ridiculously hot. Two, the tourists are long gone. That may not be such a bad thing for locals -- i.e., no more drunken spring breakers vomiting all over town. However, it's the pits for those in the biz. As the full-time population dwindles, so do restaurant profits.

Unless you are in the biz, though, the fading population is not such a bad thing for South Florida's year-rounders. Reservations are easier to come by. There are more barstools at your favorite hangout. And best of all, the summer dining deals come out in full force. From happy hours to small-plate specials, restaurants do everything they can to bring patrons in through their doors.

Our favorite summer deal is the summer prix fixe, a complete, multicourse meal at a fixed price. Here five restaurants that, in season, might put a hurting on your wallet -- or even be completely out of reach. But in summer, with these deals, they're a steal.

Josef's Table in Boca Raton
Until August 31, the restaurant is offering three courses off of its entire menu for $33.95 per person. In line with summer, it is including a one-and-a-half-pound lobster to seal the deal. The special starts at 5:30 and is being featured seven nights a week. Reservations may be made by calling 561-353-2500.

Café Boulud in Palm Beach
In conjunction with its yearlong prix-fixe menus, Café Boulud will be featuring a special four-course dinner from its summer pop-up Boulud Sud. Available Saturday and Sunday nights through September 2, it is priced at $35 per person. For more info, contact the Brazilian Court at 561-655-6060.

The Breakers in Palm Beach
The hotel is offering prix-fixe dinners at four of its on-site restaurants: The Flagler Steakhouse ($49.50), the Italian Restaurant ($35), the Seafood Bar ($39.50), and Echo ($39.50). All of which will be served until October 31. The Flagler Steakhouse will also feature a $20 two-course lunch menu every day and a $35 three-course Sunday brunch. Call 561-659-8488.

15th Street Fisheries & Dockside Cafe in Fort Lauderdale
For the summer, guests are able to chose from three courses Sunday through Thursday after 5 p.m. for $35. Available on both floors, the menu will be changing daily but always offers two salad options for a first course, the choice of three entrées -- two of which are seafood -- and the choice of two desserts. Call 954-763-2777 for details and menu options.<

Max's Harvest in Delray Beach
Offered every evening -- for an indefinite period of time -- guests can sample three courses off of the entire menu for $45. The only exception: There is a $12 up charge for the rib eye. Call 562-381-9970.
