Pour Your Own Brew at American Social on Las Olas

Get it yourself service at American Social.

Getting service at a bar on Fort Lauderdale's posh Las Olas Boulevard is no easy task. A great deal of patience and skill is required to remain friendly or even civil as dozens of suited up office types attempt to push, shove, and bribe their way to getting a drink ahead of you.

American Social, the famed strip's latest installment, hopes to change all that by introducing Fort Lauderdale to a brand new concept--getting it yourself.

American Social's unique, "pour-it-yourself service" allows you to choose your draft and pour it straight from the tap using a special "beer button". Pour-it Yourself service will run you between $12 and $14 to start; you are required to pre-purchase two drafts. Essentially, a pint of beer will run you $6 and up depending on the draft. Lagunitas IPA, Victory's Summer Love, and Sierra Nevada are just a few of the beers that are currently on tap. In addition to pour-it-yourself service, the bar also offers traditional service with a variety of craft-beers, fresh-fruit cocktails and frozen drinks. American Social's menu includes trendy items like flatbreads, mac-n-cheees, truffle fries and sliders.

This weekend, stop by American Social where they know that when you want something done right, sometimes you've got to do it yourself.

It was getting pretty busy when I went too but I was there during a Heat game so I figured that had something to do with it (as well as it being a new place on Las Olas). You're right, Johnny V is a good place to end up, especially when rack of lamb is one of the specials! Thanks for leaving a comment.

I went to check out this spot over the weekend, and although it seemed cool it was WAY too crowded and loud. The bar reached maximum capacity and there was a line out the door, and apparently this happens almost every night. In search of a good time my friends and I ended up at Johnny V a few doors down and had some great food and drinks at the bar. I forgot how much I love this place!! I'd go back to American Social, but not after the hype has died down...

Dear Dan (or Dennis?), Thanks for the feedback. The purpose of this blog was short, sweet and motive-free - here's a new place to check out. If it interests you, check it out. If not, skip it. It is intended to be a quick snapshot to inform readers who may not know, that American Social is open, especially since it was supposed to open earlier this year. I've only been once since it opened and that was during a Heat game. In my opinion, to give a review based on one visit during an NBA Finals game would be irresponsible.  If you do decide to go, I'd be curious to know your thoughts on the place. Write your comments on it below. Cheers!

Gimmicky. Article sounds more like an advertisment then an informative review.
