Saturday night's dinner hour may mean a chance to wrap your tongue around two Romance languages in one meal. Pistache French Bistro in West Palm Beach is hosting a "night in Spain" dinner as part of its Tour du Monde promo this summer and fall. Participants who attend the semi-regular internationally-themed dinners (other "destinations" include Russia, London, Greece) can collect stamps in their "passport" for a chance to win a trip to Paris.
Executive chef Julien Gremaud said the dinners will allow him and his staff to "cook some interesting dishes" that may not typically appear on the restaurant's menu.
The Spanish-themed dinner on Saturday night is a three-course prix fixe that begins with a family-style tapas platter with salt cod croquette, Serrano ham, olive, almonds, goat-cheese-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, and other various salty snacks.
The main course includes a choice of three dishes; paella (with shrimp, mussels, squid, chicken, chorizo, and saffron bomba rice), sauteed snapper (with clams, chorizo, and squid ink rice), or grilled marinated skirt steak. Dessert choices include crema Catalana (the Spanish take on creme brulee), bunuelos de viento (light donuts), or sorbet. Special Spanish wines and sangria will be available for an additional charge.
The cost for the dinner is $39 per person, plus tax and tip. The special menu will become available at 5:30 p.m. Live entertainment -- flamenco dancing and a Spanish guitarist -- begins at 8 p.m. Reserve a spot by calling 561-833-5090.
