32. French Toast at Cafe Auribeau
Two thick-cut pieces of challah are battered and coated in slivered almonds, giving them the kind of crunch that's often missing from the soggy -- even gummy -- versions of French toast you'll find in run-of-the-mill brunch spots. The crowning touch, though, is the fresh berry compote with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. This is a classic brunch creation but the beautiful execution -- now, is that a photo fit for Instagram, or what? -- takes it from "blase hotel brunch item" to Saturday morning must-have.
