To Celebrate, or Drown Your Sorrows: Tax Day Drink Recommendations
![]() |
The place: Riverside Market
The drink: Lagunitas WTF
The reason: Billed as "A malty, robust, jobless recovery ale," The Wilco Tango Foxtrot will "keep you busy," says Julian Siegel. "It's an intense, intense beer that, at 22 oz., will keep your mind off your finances."
The place: ROK:BRGR
The drink: Rok:Crusta, a cocktail made with Woodford Reserve, Salerno Blood Orange liqueur, Maraschino liqueur, and lemon juice
The reason: "You need something a little stiffer at tax time," says manager John Mooring of this drink that's a nod to Prohibition-era drinks. "This is a well-balanced cocktail that appeals to anyone."
The place: The Naked Grape
The drink: Big Fire Pinot Gris or Big Fire Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley
The reason: "Everything's going up in flames anyway," says co-owner Tim Slivinski. "You might as well drink something delicious."
The place: Tap 42
The drink: The Banana Bomb
The reason: In the theme of fire, manager Andy Yeager recommends a firey twist on the Irish car bomb. Two and a half ounces of Ketel One is combined with 1/2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream and 1/2 oz Malibu, then dropped into a Wells Banana Bread draft.
