Even if the dates are a bust, you'll get some good brews out of the deal.

How do you reinvigorate the played-out concept of the speed date? By combining it with the event du jour: a beer tasting. If you're single and looking to mingle and love to talk hops, malt, and suds, consider the Beer Taste Speed Date this Thursday night at the Coffee District in Delray Beach.

Things get started at 7 p.m. and the cost is $20 per person. For your admission fee, you'll get to chat -- for four minutes at a time -- with as many as a dozen singles of the opposite sex, plus you'll get six samples of Cigar City Brewing beers.

The idea here is simple: If conversation is lagging, talk about the brews, and if you need a little liquid courage, no one will judge you for sampling the wares. If things go well, you can always stick around and show off your craft beer know-how while checking out the rest of the offerings on tap.
