Cupcake Couture Sweet Boutique in Delray Beach Bakes Red Velvet Cupcakes for President Obama

The bakery got the call on Monday afternoon that a caterer they work with was in need of sugary treats for a private affair with Obama in attendance. On Tuesday morning, they baked 40 "vogue" cupcakes (muffin-sized) as well as 100 petite cupcakes in an assortment of flavors. The president's flavor of choice? Red velvet. Or in Cupcake Couture parlance, Red Valentino.
For security reasons, many of the details about the job were kept under wraps at the outset, but the crew at Cupcake Couture didn't hesitate to fulfill the order. For this independent bakery, the job wasn't about politics but rather the "opportunity for a small business."
While not on a large scale in terms of volume, the crew admitted the stakes were quite high given the audience sampling their goods, which included an assortment of signature flavors like Limey Pulitzer (key lime), Cocoa Channel (chocolate with vanilla butter-cream frosting), Donna Karrot (carrot cake), Hugo Boston Couture (Boston cream), Donatella Vanilla (vanilla with chocolate and marshmallow accents), and Jean Paul Peanutier (chocolate with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache). While some of the large red velvet cupcakes were topped with the presidential seal, the petite cupcakes were decorated in the bakery's typical fashion.
While owner Pamela Joyner wasn't able to share a lot of specifics on the event where her cupcakes were served, she does know her team's efforts were a hit: "They were a huge success and well received."
