| How happy would you be if you could grow your own food? |
The event will be led by master gardener Michael Madfis, who can answer questions about the special -- and at times frustrating -- growing conditions that apply for South Florida gardens. (For instance: Just because your neighbors to the north are putting in their tomatoes at the start of summer doesn't mean you should.)
Fort Lauderdale Vegetables will cosponsor the demo and is handing out more than 600 seedlings to attendees. The seedlings, which include Asian long beans, peppers, eggplant, and okra, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The free demo will be held outside, under a tent, on the west side of the Governmental Center Annex, 115 S. Andrews Ave. The event is hosted by Broward County.
