Creative Ways to Celebrate Easter in Broward and Palm Beach Counties

Easter Sunday doesn't have to be a snoozefest.

Easter and brunch go together like sodium-laced store-bought ham and canned pineapple slices. If you're looking to do something a little out of the ordinary this Sunday, we've got a handful of creative ways to celebrate Easter in Broward and Palm Beach counties, after the jump.

Gospel Easter brunch at Lips -- A feisty alternative to the more staid traditional Easter Sunday service: Drag dining mainstay Lips will host a gospel Easter brunch and Easter-hat contest. Admission ($28.50 per person) includes a three-course meal and unlimited mimosas, champagne, and bloody marys, plus a drag show. Seatings are at noon and 2:30 p.m. Call 954-567-0987.

Fortune-cookie hunt in Boca Raton -- If plastic eggs filled with melted candy seem sorta blasé, consider the fortune-cookie hunt at Philippe by Philippe Chow in Boca Raton. The restaurant is open 4 to 11 p.m. to serve Easter dinner to kids and grownups alike.

"Hoppy Easter" at World of Beer in Coconut Creek -- Satiate your inner beer snob with a lineup of hop-heavy beers at World of Beer in Coconut Creek. Special selections include Bell's Hopslam (limit of one draft/two bottles per person), Dogfish Head Aprihop, Red Brick HotLanta IPA, and Sierra Nevada Hoptimum. The celebration is noon to 5 p.m.
