Everyone loves a hot dog, but not all hot dogs are loveable.  Some are mealy, or boiled, or taste of chemicals, or play-dough.  Sorry pork fans, but a real hot dog should be all-beef, grilled (no dirty water dawgs ever), be a deep, rich red with a little char on the ends.  The dog should have a "snap" when you bite into it, and it should arrive at your mouth just a little too hot to handle -- like the dogs at P.S. 561, the little yellow school bus that could (serve great hot dogs, that is).

All the dogs are school-themed, like the hall monitor (a Ruben dog), the math whiz (a Bahn-Mi dog), and the all-city (a classic pushcart dog). But we love the FCAT, a grilled dog served with bacon, barbeque sauce, and plenty of jalapenos ($5.50).  Remember the saying -- it takes hours of study to ace the FCAT, but only a few minutes to devour it!
