| Pembroke Pines is having one big birthday bash. |
On the agenda is a golf tournament, 5K race, kiddie beauty pageant, concerts, an Indian-American festival, a cake-cutting ceremony, a fair, and Taste of the Pines (click here for a complete schedule of events).
Here's a rundown of all the food-related events during Pembroke Pines' celebration:
The Pembroke Pines Fair opens its doors on March 23 at 6 p.m. at Pembroke Pines City Center featuring more than 30 rides and lots of fair food. Expect to see the usual funnel cakes, hot dogs, pork parfaits, and roasted corn, along with some delicacies like deep-fried Oreos and butter. The fair runs daily through April 1, and hours vary. Single-day admission is $20, but you can purchase a four-day wristband for $75. Tickets are available at Pembroke Lakes Tennis Center and Pill Box Pharmacies of Taft Street, 1700 NW 122 Terrace, Pembroke Pines.
It's not a birthday without cake, so the City of Pembroke Pines is sharing a giant birthday cake, and you're invited to the party. On March 24 at 5 p.m., sing "Happy Birthday" and get some cake in return. The party will be held on the main community stage of the fair.
The inaugural Indian-American Festival will be held March 31 to April 1 inside the Pembroke Pines fair from noon to midnight both days. Bollywood dance numbers, Indian singing competitions, and lots of traditional food like tandoori chicken, tikka masala, naan, and saag paneer will be available for sale. Admission is $20 per person.
