New Times Beerfest Countdown: Five Beers for Spring
Don't miss a minute of the Final Four games, displayed on Jumbotrons. Celebrate with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the really fun band from New Orleans often featured on HBO's 'Treme. And drink brews from a huge selection.
We'll be hosting another chance to win a pair of tickets on the blog tomorrow morning. You can also purchase VIP tickets for $65 or general admission tickets for $30 -- which includes pub grub and an array of craft beers such as Shiner, Brooklyn Brewery, and Dogfish Head, among others. Click here for more information.
In the meantime, we're celebrating spring brews with these five selections.
5) Dogfish Head Aprihop
A hoppy beer with notes of caramel and apricot, this IPA is released in March and brewed by the inimitable Sam Calagione.
4) Narragansett Bock
This Helles-style Bavarian beer fronts gentle hops and assertive malt. Winner of the 2011 World Beer Championships, it's described as earthy, astringent, with aromas of "caramel drizzled dates."
3) Shiner Dortmunder
Named for the German city that produces more beer than Munich, the Dortmunder is Shiner's herbal, grassy, crisp ale with big flavor and a dry finish.
2) Flying Dog Brewery Garde Dog
The toasty, malty beer from this Maryland brewer is a French farmhouse-style ale. Brewed with American-grown French hops, it features subtle spice and a clean finish.
1) Left Hand JuJu Ale
This ginger-brewed ale is crisp, zesty, and a unique brew for hot spring days.
