Forest Trace Asks: Who Has the Best (Matzah) Balls?
| Kosherfoodie.com |
| Enter your balls and win a donation to your favorite charity. |
For the third year in a row, the community is seeking out the best matzah (or matzo, or matzoh) ball for its Golden Matzah Bowl. Two winners, one each in two categories, will receive a $180 donation to the charity of their choice. The categories are best recipe from scratch and best out of the box. To enter your matzah ball, email the recipe, along with contact information, to bestmatzahballrecipe@gmail.com. They're also looking for the story behind the recipe, so schmaltz it up for the judges. (Schmaltz, by the way, is the name for chicken fat used in making matzah balls). Deadline for entries is March 15.
This contest is open to amateur chefs, but there's also a professional/restaurant category. Send an email to the above address for details on how you can enter your restaurant.
Winners will be announced on March 22 at the Golden Matzah Bowl ceremonies, where a king or queen of the bowl will be crowned.
Forest Trace is also holding a Facebook contest (yup! this swinging community is on Facebook). Just name your favorite matzah ball box mix every day from March 6 to 15. Each day, someone will be selected randomly to win a $25 gift card to Target or Publix. Just in time for your Passover shopping.
