Bill Clinton and Secret Service sat here, though the room was dolled up for his arrival.
It was far from business as usual at YOLO on Tuesday night, when Secret Service arrived on a packed evening to secure space for former President Bill Clinton. The group sat in a private dining room between 9 and 9:30 p.m, after Clinton spoke at Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

Clinton's people emailed Tuesday afternoon to inform the restaurant that he would be coming, said sous chef Dustin Ward. Ward and chef de cuisine Richard Yordan prepared meals for the crew.

Fitting that Clinton dined at YOLO -- which stands for You Only Live Once -- following an embrace of a strict vegan lifestyle. After a series of health issues, Clinton took his doctor's advice and renounced meat, eggs, cheese, butter, and any other animal-derived ingredients, as reported this past August.

Though his entourage dined on sashimi and other meats, Clinton's first course was a grilled artichoke, followed by the chopped salad with a sherry vinaigrette. For his main course, the kitchen served him roasted garlic orecchiette with red peppers, rapini, basil, cilantro, and parsley, as well as side of tricolored roasted beets without goat cheese.

"I didn't get to see him as much as I would have liked," said manager Sean Henderson, since he was behind the line helping expedite. "It was a really exciting night."
