Learn about chocolate at the South Florida Science Museum
Chocolate has been around since about 1400 BC. According to Smithsonian Magazine, it's been used in rituals by the Aztecs and Mayans, valued by kings and queens, and enjoyed in countless forms by everyone from children to adults.

But what do we really know about chocolate, besides the fact that we love it?

This weekend, the South Florida Science Museum explores the science of chocolate.

Interactive displays and exhibits allow you to learn about the history of this treat as well as the truths behind health benefits of chocolate and other fun facts. Test your chocolate knowledge at Chocolate Jeopardy, and watch demonstrations by the Lincoln Culinary Institute.

Sample chocolate, watch how liquid nitrogen is used to make chocolate ice cream, and play with chocolate playdough.

The Science of Chocolate exhibit runs Saturday, February 18, and Sunday, February 19, from noon to 4 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is free with general admission to the museum ($11.95 adults, $8.95 kids 3-12, $10.45 seniors).
