Texas Hold 'Em BBQ to Open Tapped Out Beer Bar
![]() |
"Texas Hold Em's desire is to open Tapped Out, featuring micro and craft beers, in that location," said Armstead. "If not in that space, then in that area."
Tapped Out is based on the restaurant's Friday-night beer themes from 7 to 9 p.m. Texas Hold 'Em recently showcased Georgia beers from Red Brick and Terrapin to the backdrop of R.E.M. and the B-52's. Tapped Out night has recently expanded to Tuesdays.
Texas Hold 'Em has been on the move since it debuted. The original shop went from a "sad" Sunrise location to SW Seventh Street in 2009 that still had the feel of a roadside shack, despite the new digs. In 2010, Armstead opened a second location on North Federal Highway. The Seventh Street location was named as New Times' Best Place to Dine Alone last year and Best Barbecue in 2006. Might it earn next year's best beer bar? If things go as Armstead hopes, we'll soon find out.
