Charcuterie Too! Set to Close
| Charcuterie Too! to close -- no soup for you! |
But diners who waited in line at this plain-Jane establishment are treated to fresh soups, crisp salads, and beautiful sandwiches filled with carved meats and fine cheeses.
The Sun-Sentinel reported on February 12 that the small mom-and-pop restaurant was closing due to various factors including a renovation project on the library, a growing homeless population in Stranahan Park, and owner Ymelda Luna Singh not being able to keep up with bills.
The story also reports that various Broward County Commissioners are trying their best to come up with a solution to keep the little lunch counter in business.
We tried to reach Singh for comment. The restaurat's general information number kept ringing, while their order number went straight to a voice mailbox that wasn't set up. We left a message with the neighboring library information desk.
We finally called the library's administrative office, where Lorraine Woods confirmed that Charcuterie Too! was closing, due to construction and renovations on the library's windows. We asked if there was a possibility that the restaurant could reopen when construction was finished. "I don't think so," was the answer. Woods didn't know the exact date of the lunch counter's demise but did confirm that it was "open and busy, with a really long line."
Hurry soon before it closes, if only to snag one last batch of its to-die-for homemade oatmeal raisin cookies.
