Local Food News: Surf Road Taco, Rebel House, SpoonFed, PL8

​We've got a slew of local news on the docket this afternoon.

1. For starters, Surf Road Taco announced it will close on January 28 after lunch. "Not enough business to pay rent," says an employee. The location does not help.

2. Next up, The Rebel House January opening is delayed, says partner Mike Saperstein. The push back is due to permit issues. He says he'll deliver an update as soon as he can.

3. Chef Glen Manfra has left SpoonFed. Changeovers are high in restaurants, so we're not entirely surprised, though the fast switch smells like a similar Manfra departure at The Office in its early days.

Here's the statement from the release: "We are extremely grateful for the time and effort Chef Glen Manfra has spent assisting in the creation and design of SpoonFed in Delray Beach. Both his culinary expertise as well as his vast knowledge as a restauranteur have been deeply appreciated and we wish him the best in his future endeavors."

4. Last, the PL8 chef change wasn't a hasty switcheroo. Whitestone reached out to Clean Plate Charlie to note that he had helped in the transition and is working in Miami, closer to home. "Whitestone has created a good menu," said Joel Christy, the executive chef who has replaced him. For now PL8 will maintain Whitestone's menu as Christy acclimates to his new position. Christy was formerly chef at Blue Point Ocean Grill.
