A Pig Roast, A Biker Bar, and A Sinners Union This Wednesday

"We've been pulling in a younger crowd that's different from our usual crew," said manager Lisa Carter who's in charge of roasting the pig. "We're trying to mix it up." When New Times named Mickey's "Best Biker Bar" in 2004, we wrote of its location in "a backwash of a neighborhood, an aging industrial ghetto just west of I-95."
The monthly shin-dig angles toward toward the country-folk crowd says Carter, citing past Wednesday appearances with the Wholetones. This week's show features Loxahatchee Sinners Union, a banjo/bass/keys quartet. The group describes themselves as "swamp gospel" fronted by Scarecrow Jenkins, formerly of Viva La Fox. Los Bastardos Magnificos joins them on the night's bill.
Carter's in charge of the pig roasting; "it's a 12-hour affair," she said. The eating and whatnot gets going around 8.
