Martorano's Masters Meatball Eating Championship: One Meaty Challenge
|Yo! Steve Martorano is hosting a meatball eating competition.|
The championship eating contest is sanctioned by the International Federation of Competitive Eating, the same people who bring you the annual Nathan's hot dog-eating competition, the Jake Melnick's Battle of the Bhut XXX Hot Wing Eating Championship, and the Isle Biloxi Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich Eating World Championship.
This is the third annual Martorano Meatball Championship, but the first held in South Florida (the previous two were held in Las Vegas). Contestants will battle each other in a game of skill, wits, and guts as they eat as many of Steve Martorano's signature meatballs as they can in ten minutes. Lucky for us, the spectators, this is a utensils-only event, which means you can bring the kids without having to explain to them that they still have to use a knife and fork to eat their meatballs.
At stake is a $3,000 purse as well as bragging rights. The festivities start at 4 p.m., with the competition at 5. Admission is free. Food trucks and an amateur meatball-eating contest between Eagles and Dolphins fans will be held.
