Breathe Restaurant & Ultra Lounge Opens in Delray

Breathe Restaurant and Ultra Lounge features a weekday happy hour at the bar.

Breathe, a new restaurant and ultra lounge has opened on Delray's Atlantic Avenue. The restaurant touts itself as featuring a "funky new twist on Mediterranean region fare in a chic, stylish and intimate atmosphere."

Lunch has the standard fare of sandwiches, paninis, and salads. A Breathe BLT is a take on the traditional iceberg wedge with turkey bacon bits, and vine ripened tomatoes ($9) while a Panini Diavolo features Genoa salami, cured Ham, Roma tomatoes, smoked gouda, red onions, and a spicy pepperoncini sauce ($11).

The dinner menu features a large assortment of small plates and appetizers, again with an emphasis on Mediterranean fare. Grilled octopus with organic mixed greens, cherry tomato, and balsamic reduction ($14) and an aubergine salad comprised of roasted eggplant, herb goat cheese, toasted sunflower seeds, and fresh plum tomatoes ($10) sound like light starters, perfect for a warm South Florida evening.

We're curious about the "airline chicken," a pan-seared organic chicken breast with sautéed spinach, wild mushroom gravy, and roasted-garlic "smashed" potatoes ($25), mainly because we sincerely hope it doesn't taste remotely like airline food.

The restaurant has an adjacent lounge, an outdoor patio with hookahs, and a VIP lounge complete with butlers and bottle service.

A weekday happy hour at the bar features half-priced drinks and $6 appetizers Monday - Friday from 4 - 7 p.m.

Breathe Ultra Lounge is planning an official grand-opening party for January 2012, but it's in official previews if you want to be the first kid on your block. Breathe is open for dinner Monday - Thursday from 5 - 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. - midnight. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Friday starting December 19. The bar and lounge is open Thursday - Saturday until 2 a.m.
