SAIA on Fort Lauderdale Beach Does Happy Hour South Beach-Style

​Situated steps away from the sand, SAIA at the B Ocean Hotel is the sophisticated sushi spot you've probably never been to. Opened less than a year ago, it's taken some time to convince Fort Lauderdale's socialites that the old Holiday Inn building has been redesigned with a sushi restaurant worth the drive.

Walking through the hip entrance hallway
and past the crystal-glass doors, you're immediately welcomed by a smiling hostess and sleek, South Beach-style decor. 

The recently renovated drink menu is comprised of three collections of cocktails. My favorites being tequila thyme and the pink cooler (note: I did feel like I should be carrying a over-priced handbag and a puppy as I used a straw to sip the cucumber-infused pink cooler-- but still, it was good).

Walled with windows, the ocean is practically the party at the next table. Chef Subin Chankesorn mixes the Far East and the Caribbean on the menu. The fire dragon roll and the tender Siam chicken might've been my favorites.

Who: You and the foreign girl that showed up looking for the Holiday Inn.

What: $3 Asian beers and discounted signature cocktails.
