Hot Dog Eating Contest @ Jaxson's Ice Cream -- Celebrate Its 55th Anniversary Saturday

Meet the dog on the right this Saturday.

​Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor Restaurant -- winner of Broward Palm Beach New Times' Best Dessert 2011 for the monumental Kitchen Sink sundae -- will celebrate its 55th rotation around the sun this Saturday with a family-friendly bash from 7 to 10 p.m. at the beloved Dania Beach icon.

There are lots of activities planned, among them a hot dog eating contest hosted by...a giant hot dog. National Deli has partnered with Jaxson's for the event, providing behemoth one-pound, 18-inch dogs for the contest and sending its ambassador, Nat Deliman, to entertain the throngs (and oversee the consumption of his brethren).

Hot dog eating contest participants, who will be pre-selected for the contest, will have a chance to win a flat screen television.
  
The evening also will include a silent auction, raffle, and live entertainment. Proceeds from any raffle ticket sales, food and drink sales, and donations will go to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
